And did you know they ruined the Front Mission franchise? Everything has been turn based strategy, true TBS, not like Final Fantasy which isn’t strategy. We’re talking Advance Wars like.
What they did for the last, and probably final one, is made it into a 3rd person action mech thing like Armored Core. And while Armored Core has some serious learning curve to the controls, it totally rules the genre. Though I haven’t played S.L.A.I. yet, but do own it.
The premise was very promising, but the execution and delivery was terrible. It was supposed to be gritty and realistic with a mature political storyline and wanzers (mechas) much closer to reality, and what they gave us was this fast-paced cliched shonen anime tripe with embarrassing lines of dialogue and little in the way of strategy.
